“Changes”

The poem I am writing for Tammy for our 25th anniversary is not completed as of yet. I guess I have what is called writers block. So until I have it ready I am posting the poem “Changes” I wrote this poem when Tammy and I were going through some tough times like all married couples have. This poem is published in the book (The Colors of Life) on page 3. I hope you enjoy the poem and please feel free to comment on it.

“Changes”

I know that people change in many different ways. And I know the changes never happen in a day.

Most people make changes over a long period of time and the changes they make never have any rhythm or rhyme.

Through out the years we’ve have changes a lot. Some of the changes were for the good but most of them were not.

The reason we make changes I do not fully understand but the consequences of them are now in our hands.

Most changes are small and do not seem like there much but when you put them all together they can kill even love.

Can people change back once it too late or is all their love just gone to waste.

Maybe it’s not all for waste if people are willing to make small positive changes along the way.

I have made mistakes and you have made some to. I have taken you for granted, as so have you.

I sit here and wonder was it even love at all or was I just here to break your fall.

I’m willing to make changes if you can make a few too so our many years of love can forever stay true.

That’s why I named this poem “Changes” and this one I have written just for you.

The poem was written on July 21st 2003 for my “Brown Eyed Girl”  Tammy

“So you don’t say”

As I read the online surveys it seems that a few of the guests make mentions of strange things in the old part of the Inn. We have had a couple of guests talk to us about it but I truly never took them too serious. If any guest have had anything out of the ordinary take place while visiting the Inn lately or prior to Tammy and I purchasing the Inn please leave a post or comment in the “slightly strange” category.

Contest rules, terms and restrictions

The rules are fairly simple. You must agree that we can use your name and likeness in any of the publications we use to promote business for the Inn. I will email a notice that you have won a contest and you must reply that you have read and agree to the rules and terms as described in this post.
The restrictions and blackout dates are as follows.

Any National Holidays and Notre Dame sports home games.

The one free night is for a standard room for 2 guests.

The certificate must be used within one year from the date issued.

There must be a standard room available for the night you have chosen.

We will mail you a free night gift certificate which is transferable.

Rules and restrictions may be updated at anytime.

The Innkeepers themselves DO NOT pick the winner. A number is assigned to each person who participated in the survey 30 days prior to the first saturday of every month. All numbers are then written on a piece of paper folded and put into a hat. At that time a Guest currently staying at the Inn picks a number out off the hat and viola there’s the winner.

Farmers Breakfast the Patchwork way

This is our signature breakfast at the Patchwork. I have decided this would be my first post in this category do to the amount of request I get for this simple but delicious meal. There is a little time needed to prep this meal but the work is well worth the results. Total time about 1 hour.

Farmer’s Breakfast (depends on how many you are feeding, you can judge  for yourself on how much to use)

Serving for two people

1/2 c. Green Pepper (Chop up small)

1/3 c. onion (Chop up small)

1/2 c. Ham ( Chop any size)

4 large eggs

1   can of sliced potato

1/2 cup of sharp cheddarcheese

Cook green peppers and onions in butter, Drain  the can of potato’s put in shallow pan season to taste and bake at 350 for about 30 Min’s or until lightly brown. Whisk up the eggs with little water or milk which ever you desire ( I use milk) and cook the eggs as if you were making scrambled eggs.  Add all ingredients in a bowl add cheese and mix until the cheese has melted and then enjoy.

There will be more recipes to come so I hope you enjoy this great country style breakfast, I know we do here at the Patchwork and so do the guests. I will be back soon with the next recipe. Tammy/ Barbara

The Little Kitten

Will I am here to give and update on the progress of the new kitten. We took all the baby’s to get check and updated on there shots. Come to find out the little one is 6 weeks old and a male (Which Samantha thought was a female) My daughter nursed him back to health and did a great job. As far as getting along with the out side barn kittens we were way wrong. Ma ma did not want a thing to do with him but we tried as of now he stays in side in our office, way far away from Shimber our German shepherd. He has a blast playing with his new toys. Come to find out don’t walk by him he loves the feet. He plays with anything he can get his little mouth on even pens and paper. But I love it when he purrs he is so soft to cuddle with.  More to come and I will let you know his progress. Tammy
